Sr. Mechanical Builder
Responsibilities
- Organize, plan and execute the build of automation cells and/or systems then complete to design specifications
- Team leader (lead builder) on automation projects.
- Reviews designs with engineering for new automation projects
- Verifies conformity of parts to BOM and prints
- Work closely with engineering to make and document any required changes
- Verify correct fit and function of assemblies and sub-assemblies
- Apply advanced skills to perform the function of the position within assigned areas
- Adapt new procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet the more complex requirements of the position
- Rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals
- Resolve most questions and issues, may serve as a resource on several topics, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels
- Orient, train, assign and check the work of other employees as required
- Debug by performing in-house acceptance run-off of new automated equipment
- Interface with the customer when necessary
- Install and service machines at customer’s site as required
- Train customer’s personnel on machine operations and maintenance
- Provide information for machine technical documentation
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, Associate Degree or equivalent desired
- Five or more years experience in building automation equipment
- Solid background in blueprint reading (mechanical/pneumatic), machining, machine assembly, troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Knowledge of good manufacturing practices
- Understanding of the metric measurement system
- Basic computer skills, interface devices and software interaction: i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other software requiring basic data entry
- Able to work in an organized manner in a collaborative/teamwork environment alongside other machinery building activity
- Self-motivated to achieve scheduled task timelines and be able to cope with pressure on occasions
- Interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with employees at all levels within the company
- Be prepared to work overtime when required
- Be prepared to travel to customer facilities for installation (US and overseas) as needed
